i have questions. does jailbreak really increase battery life noticeably on an iphone? Also will the new iphone that comes out in the summer be jailbreakable? Based on all this, should i buy an iphone now? or the new one in the summer? This is provided that i prefer a jailbreak.

jailbreaking will not increase the battery life at all.

and only time will tell if the new iPhone will be jailbreakable

I would just wait and get the new iPhone, then wait a while for the jailbreak.
The new iPhone has better stuff, and it's coming out soon. It's worth it more to just wait, unless you really want to jailbreak, then I'd go for the iPhone 3g...

I would wait until June. If you must jailbreak, and for some reason its impossible, you could always buy a 3G on ebay or someplace. If you buy a 3G now, you might really regret it.

Yeah, I'd prefer to have the new iPhone than have a weaker jailbroken 3G

If you don't install things that run in the background, your battery shouldn't be too bad. My iPod touch 2G's battery only goes down a little faster than an unjailbroken one.
Nobody knows if it's going to be jailbreakable, since it's not even out yet.
And again, I'd prefer the new iPhone than the 3G.

Look...The Hardware Must be different and Just b'coz 3.0 is "jailbreakable", doesn't mean that the new iPhone Will be jailbreakable(Just like the iPod Touch 2G).....so its up to you....jailbreak or features!

    • Faster processor.
    • I think it's getting a better camera.
    • Longer battery life.
    • Maybe better speakers?

You'd have to wait a while for it to be jailbroken though, since Apple most likely patched up the exploit the Dev Team used.
