[Help with a Application icon] 'TopShine'

    it probably quite simple but i need to make an icon for the application i am making and i dont want to use apples pre-rendering effect which almost very application has.

    But i dont know how to a shine to the top of the icon here are a few example of what i want

    Radial Gradient over the top, lower the opacity, make it white (generally). Make a new layer too.

    alright thanks!
    i just made a gradient stroke on it so it got lighter at the top, probably will use that method next time though.

    could you criticize it at all anyone?

    thanks that really useful, i like the pre-rendering which apple does but sometimes on some colors it ruins the icon.

    which icon, my icon, its all my own work, even the santa was drawn by my sister, the first icon is yours though
