if you go into manage connections, you have to right click the connection you get your internet from and hit the Sharing tab and choose share my internet connection with: and choose your ad hoc connection.

usually you have to disable the internet connection to your computer then enable it again to get it to work.

    Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings?

    Try that.

I've been messing with my ad-hoc connection for some time now and finally solved it. I always got to the point where the itouch would show the "wi-fi" connection but wouldn't open in safari. First I shared my connection and it would only work for about 2 min. The solution for me was to bridge my ethernet port and wireless port together and enable Interent connection sharing. Works like a charm.
