    hey all,
does anyone know of a half-decent dock for the ipod touch that has an s-video or composite out? preferably with a remote?

i am very confused because the idiots on ebay post crappy docks that are pictured with an ipod touch in them, but then the specs say it is not compatible with iphone or touch. now, we all know that the touch has the same dock as all the ipods since 3rd gen and the iphone does not, but other people dont seem to get that. i bought some refurbished jbl speakers saying that they dont work for the touch, but they work perfectly! (i tried my friends before buying them)
then i assumed that anything that works for the ipod video will work for the touch, so i got a video wire off ebay that connects to the headphone jack and it doesnt work!

i cant seem to get anything strait! will this work for the touch?!?:

all in all, im asking if anyone knows if i can get a simple dock for the touch with an s-video out (and maybe remote too) without spending 50+ dollars.

much appreciative of any advise in advance.

If the iPod Touch is like the iPhone, you will have no choice but to buy an Apple A/V cable (they have a composite cable (R/Y/W connectors) and an HD cable. These cables have chips which unlock the video output of the device.

shotgunfool, thanks for your response, but thats a speaker system, not a dock. although, does it have video out like s-video or composite? and if so, does it work?

what i want to find out is if anyone knows if any of these will work with the ipod touch:

    (or a cheaper ebay equivalent)

is the bottom of the iphone the same exact port as the ipod touch? because i know the ipod touch is the same as every ipod since 3rd gen

interesting, so i can most likely assume that anything i buy on ebay or anywhere else will not work for the video out. i guess i have to cave in and buy the apple wire for 50 if i really want to have video out. eh, i probably wont since its so pricey for doing nothing xept video out. i would pay 50 for a dock with maybe some speakers and a remote that also had a video out, or even just the remote, but no way im going to buy the universal dock AND the wire totaling 100 bucks.

do you think logitech would put that chip into their products?

    like this:

i figure if any 3rd party company would work, it would be logitech

Note that the composite/component cables also come with the wall charger, so that's a plus. If all you're looking for is a dock that has composite/component cables, i could make you one out of legos pretty inexpensively.

thats probably the best idea i have heard so far. i have a enormous box of legos in my basement from way back when i used to play with them. while it has been a long time since ive played with them, i will admit i did play with them for way to far into my teen years, probably about 14/15. im 23 now and i miss them.

anyway, according to the logitech site, these:
    http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/speakers_audio/ipod_mp3_speakers/devices/3660&cl=us,en
work for the ipod touch and they have a video out. a very very similar model is only 50 bucks on tigerdirect, if i find out the video out works, im definitely going to get them, the problem is i cant seem to figure out if they do.

i just emailed the dude who did a video on them and he used a touch, who knows, maybe he'll go try it out and get back to me

Good luck man, if that doesn't work out i'd be happy to make you a dock using the apple component/composite cable for about 20 bucks.
