I have an iPhone 1st generation, 4gb. The touch works everywhere on the home screen. When I go to dial, choose contacts, or use any app, the area equivelant to the second row of apps on the home screen, wont work. It wont touch or anything, I have to scroll and hope I can click. So basically I cant dial 4,5,6; cant add sources to cydia and much more. But the second row of apps on the home screen works, and I can move them and more. I have restored it 3 times, jailbroken it 3 times. HELP!

Sounds like a hardware problem to me. You're most likely without a warranty, so your options are to

    1. be adventurous and replace the screen or digitizer

    2. sell it as-is for whatever

    3. Upgrade to a brand new 3G or 3GS

    (I recommend option 3)

I didn't know there was a 4GB model of the iPhone?
