As my title states I am new here. I want to first say thanks for all the info and methods I have tried so far to fix my touch unsuccessfully. My problem is windows gives an unable to recognize device/malfunction message when connecting. I have done everything up to a restore on the touch and windows still does not recognize it on more than one PC. I even tried uninstall/reinstall itunes out of desperation. Is my touch faulty or am I? Please help and thanks in advance.*edit* also noticed that the battery logo in the upper right hand corner just shows it is charging and not connected to PC logo. Not sure if that is even relevant but trying to get the details in.

I just have regular xp, not vista. Do not have libusb installed and have not modified the touch in any way.

Try reinstalling Apple Mobile Device Support from Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.

I reinstalled Apple Mobile Device Support and windows still does not recoginize it. Still shows as unknown device. Maybe it is the hardware on the unit? Hope someone else has more ideas.

No, as stated above I have not modified this touch in any way, starting to look like I will have to mail this thing to apple for service, but even with it still under warranty $32 seems ridiculous.
