lug in your iPod to your computer
Step 2: Hold down home button for 5 seconds
Step 3: Don't let go of home button, and press power button for 10 seconds
Step 4: Release power button and just hold home for 30 seconds.

    easiest way

hmmm I tried this, but it doesn't seem to be workign for me :| In fact, most of the softwares for jailbreaking can't seem to detect that my ipod is connected and on, let alone in DFU mode.

Okay to test what mode your ipod is in, make sure you installed LIBUSB and go to start menu -> LibUSB -> Test Program and run that. Look for your ipod in the list. If it says (DFU mode) next to the word iPod you are in DFU mode.
