the covering on my cable has come loose @ the 30 pin connector (where i can see the indivdual wires inside a little) does anyone have any good suggestions on how to repair this easily? i was hoping for something a little more permanent than electricians tape or the like... any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Just get a new one! If it's under warranty, don't Apple cover cables? They do on the AppleCare plan anyway.
