    when i try to reboot my ipod 1.1.4 (i have it in verbose mode), it goes fine until it has to load springboard. then it continually tries to load springboard, but something is wrong, and i know it is because i installed and uninstalled "Kate" and it messed springboard up.

    it plugs into itunes and other things via USB, but i didnt have wifi on when it got messed up. is there anyway to upload files to the / directory or execute scripts on it via USB?

    dont say restore as an option because that does not help

    You could try iphonebrowser or Total Commander.

    I don't use these programs, but could you upload a batch file with your scripts?

    Isn't Kate designed for the iphone? I seem to recall installing Catepillar once on my ipod and found it to be completely useless and also buggy. EDIT: Oh I made a pun!!!

    Did you see what I said about transferring a batch file with all the commands you want to run?

    honestly i dont know how to do that. when i said script i meant a .sh file that copies SpringBoard to /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/ and the springboard launch daemon to its proper place since i have a backup of them both

    but do you think ur idea could work?

    If you copy the two files you need into any directory, you can use a batch file (run from the ipod to move the files accordingly.)

    Example:

    Let's say Springboard in in ~.

    mv /private/var/mobile/Springboard /System/Library/Coreservices/Springboard.app/...

    right this is what i did but i cant figure out a way to execute the file

    Code:
    #!/bin/bash
    cp "/private/var/mobile/Media/com.apple.SpringBoard.plist" "/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.SpringBoard.plist"
    cp "/private/var/mobile/Media/SpringBoard" "/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/SpringBoard"
