    ok here's the dealio

i wanted my iPod (1st gen, also jailbroken) to not be jailbroken anymore and i decided to RESTORE it.

The problem started when i updated my itunes to 8.2. Now when connected my iPod to iTunes it came up with a msg stating that iTunes recognized my iPod as and iPhone and that by ejecting it and re-ejecting, the problem would be solved.
Now i did that and now the problem is iTunes WILL NOT recognized my iPod so now i've tried everything like FORCED RESTORING it and that won't even work.

If any of you have answers please HELP ME!

Hey man long time no see...

And to answer your question....iTunes 8.2 interacts with your iPod/iPhone differently through usb than its predeccessors. So things like DFU do not connect the way they used even though it still does work on the actual iPod/iPhone itself, so in effect you are told to eject and retry. So the best thing you can do is to downgrade your itunes to an older version which interacts the former way rather than the new.

Am i screwed for life then? You can't do a DFU without the latest version of iTunes. And... well... jailbroken... so i cant ask apple to fix it....

And I suppose you could say that. It's a mix of both though in a sense.

@solidness:And can you explain it a little bit more into detail?

Well, i cant do a normal restore because my ipod attempts to reboot every 10 minutes so it disconnects.
And a DFU required the latest itunes... my computer doesnt install it (errors) so i would have to do it at an apple store.
