    hi all

i hope some one can help me,
    i have ipod touch 1g
i paid for the update, which lasted for hours and hours then hung, wiping the ipod and rendering it useless as it will now not restore ( it goes thru the restore , itunes status bar goes across whole way, ipod status bar goes 1/4 way across, but just hangs at this stage for ever, i have left it on for days!)

apple support says tough luck ur out of warranty and i tried all the general fixs eg new pc itunes reinstall, new user acc but nothing works!

what are my options? i am happy to jail break if that is still possible?

Have you tried putting it in DFU mode?

    hi

i tried putting the ipod into dfu mode, and done restore on itunes but same again, the status of the restore bar on the ipod gets no further than 1/4 way across and on itunes the staus bar is the full way across and says restoring ipod software, it then simply stays like this as if it has hung! i cant imagine i should let it run for days - the longest iv left it on for is 1 day

is there any other options for me?

Wow. You seriously let your iPod "restore" for a full day ? Seriously ?? Hahaha. That's your average Apple user for you right there.

This is the second time today I've said this. By simply googling "DFU vs Restore Mode" you'll probably get to this link: http://www.ihackintosh.com/2009/06/recovery-mode-and-dfu-mode/

Read it. Be one with it. But who am I kidding... You should browse Youtube for a VIDEO tutorial because READING is just so 1999 like when the Mac was fuglee.

the problem was the USB lead i purchased was a counterfiet!
dont buy ur leads from ebay and you should be safe

as soon as i got an official apple usb lead it restored perfectly!

Ooh, that's not good. Apple's cables are way too expensive but at least you know they'll work.

Lets see, you are the one asking for help with a "noob" question, you have 4 posts, and you are calling HIM a noob?

Anyways, a great site for cables is monoprice.com
cheap products, cheap shipping, and good quality. Bought many times no problems
