    help.. anyone?
i just restore my device from GM release to Public Release.. still no luck in JB`ing my device..
i even use the latest released of redsn0w (redsn0w_win_0.9.5b5-4) that fix iBooks. still no luck..
im so frustrated right now.. i JB my device before.. and stay on 3.0 and never upgrade to 3.1.3 . but now i update my OS to 4.0 thru restore.. but still cant JB it via redsn0w.. the pineapple logo or the disk (downloading jailbreak data) wont show up on my device, even though it says done on my pc. and on the device it only shows a black screen not the downloading jailbreak data..
i do have ipod touch 2G MB and running on windows XP sp2. this is insane.. im not new to JB`ing but, i just dont know what went wrong? sigh.. hoping someone will help me in here thanks in advance..

maybe because im on xP? and its only compatible with windows 7 and vista?

    So with Redsn0w 0.9.5b5-4:
    1) First of all you browse for the Public Release IPSW.
    2) Select the Jailbreak options.
    3) Make sure your iPod Touch is OFF and plugged in.
    4) Go through the steps on screen to put it in DFU mode.
    DONE

Are you sure you have done all of these correctly?
If not then try right clicking and click Run As and choose administrator/the administrator account and untick the box about protecting your computer.

yes. i did all of that .. but still no luck.. i even tried DFU restore my device on iTunes then JB it with redsn0w.. but still im having the same result..
here's the flow after DFU mode on redsn0w
uploading first stage > exploit > reboot > uploading second stage> exploit > reboot > done (the rest of this process takes on ur device)
and on my device it wont show the disk ( downloading jailbreak data) and im left with a black screen on this part.

Are you sure you went into DFU mode correctly? Are you sure you used the correct firmware? If you used Apple's firmware, go through this path

    C:\Documents and Settings\"Username\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Update

    The firmware should be there.

yes i can say i did the DFU thingy correctly..
before clicking next i turn off my device and press and hold the power button for 3 sec. then continue holding it same with the home button this time, then release the power button while continue holding the home button then wait til` a white screen appear. but in the end the (downloading jailbreak data) thingy wont appear on my device..

no i didnt download the iOS4 Firmware on iTunes, i download it to other site with 314MB and i also have the GM Seed with 308MB, i also tried using the GM Seed direction on JB'ing the device as well, but still , i end up with the same result.

Yeh I had this problem too. Luckily it is quite easy to solve:
    -Try other USB ports
    -Make sure iTunesHelper.exe is open
    -Reboot your PC

Try that stuffs and it'll work!
