open a terminal in either an ssh program like WinSCP or term-vt100 and use this code

    Code:
    chmod 4755 /Applications/Installer.app/Installer
hit enter and try your download again see if that helps

actually, the installer works fine if the app is in /Applications. what happened is that i moved the /Applications folder to /private/var/ and created a symlink to it in /. since then that's what happens. do you know for sure if changing permissions to 4755 will work if the /Applications folder has moved?

i moved my apps folder to free up space in the operating system section of the SSD and made the link like you said. when i have main script execution errors (happens every so often for some reason) i just do the chmod permission change and it fixes it every time

    nope. did not work.

i've pwned it to 114 instead of the conventional jailbreak. could this have something to do with it?

i changed /private/var/Applications/Installer.app/Install to 4755, only to see it revert back to 0755.

EDIT: nevermind the above. it was done via winscp, but the portable version of it. so i guess the lesson is to not use WinSCPPortable. anyway, i used puttyPortable, executed
    Code:
    chmod +s /private/var/Applications/Installer.app/Install
which is equivalent to 6755 and it works now. hopefully, i'll revert back to the regular version of WinSCP and it will be all fine.

EDIT: the regular version of WinSCP didn't work either. so the solution is to use putty.

    thanks

if you've already moved all your apps and set permissions to 0755 recursively, all you have to do now is use putty and execute
    Code:
    chmod +s /private/var/Applications/Installer.app/Install
i'm not sure why winscp did not work.
