Thanks guys I don't really know what I did but I tried the holding home and power button but it didn't work at first but after like 30 seconds it turned on. Also I'm not a noob at this. I've been using iPods for 3 years and have had this iPod touch for a month or two. Also all my stuff was still there too. YES!

Try placing your iPod into DFU Mode and iTunes should recognize it.

    To do that:

Step 1. Turn off your iPod.

Step 2. Hold down the power and home button.

Step 3. When you see the Apple logo, release the power button but continue holding the home button down.

Step 4. Open iTunes and wait for it to tell you that its in restore mode.

If it was in DFU the screen would look as if it were off.

An even easier way to enter recovery is, first disconnect ipod, turn iPod off, open iTunes, hold down home button, while holding down home plug in USB and keep holding home till it enters recovery.

It's not letting him recover it so he has to put it into DFU Mode and then iTunes will recognize it and tell him to restore.

Yea and the way you told him how to enter DFU is wrong. When you put into DFU you should not see anything on the screen it will look as if it were off.

    To enter dfu.
    Turn speakers up(it helps)
Now hold down both home and power button for approx 10 sec. The screen will go blank and you will hear it disconnect. Once it disconnects let go of power but keep holding home till you hear it connect and iTunes will detect it.

True dfu mode you will not see anything on the screen, like I said it will look as if it were off.

A lot of people are going to ask some pretty obvious questions today but we just have to help them out normally.
