Force Restore (This Loses Jailbreak and Music)
and try it without the jailbreak, if it works without the Jailbreak, youll have to settle for 1 earphone.

I had a different, but similar problem just yesterday. The sound in my right earphone suddenly started coming out distorted. For the first time in probably 3 months I completely powered down my iPod. After turning it back on ... the problem was gone!

power down = drain the whole battery until there is none left (it turns off automatically then)

the quickest way to do this is turn brightness and sound as high as they go, and have it play a long movie (dont recharge it at all either). However, it pops up w/ a message when you only have 20% and 10% battery left, just press "dismiss" when it does that.

Hold the "sleep" button (the one on the top left of the iPod) down until the "Slide to Power Off" confirmation screen comes up. Then confirm you want to "Power Off" the iPod!
