Hi, I recently bought an ipod touch 2nd Gen (16gb), Yesterday actually.

However the problem i am experiencing is that whenever i connect my ipod into the computer it shows up in itunes, however it automatically starts syncing and i cannot stop it unless i stop it and take out the ipod. But if i stop it on the ipod, my itunes becomes completely unresponsive.

I have let it stay syncing a few times, it just stays syncing for hours.
I do not want to sync anything onto it though.
While the ipod is syncing i cannot access it or anything through its tab in itunes.

    Help would be much appreciated.

P.S. I have installed the latest itunes and i still have this problem.

    Thanks

cancel the sync in itunes, at the top it will say 'syncing "your name's" ipod' and to the right there will a little X. Click it and it will stop the sync, and also when u say take it out(of the usb port) and stop it, do you mean you slide it to cancel and then pull it out, or just unplug it?

When i click the little 'x' itunes completely freezes up. the bar on the top still says syncing. Even once i have cancelled the sync on the ipod, itunes still remains to have the "syncing my ipod" up and moving at the top of the itunes window.

I do the "slide to cancel" then unplug it from the USB port.

    ***update***

I just Put my ipod back into the computer and all worked fine with stopping the sync.

Might have been because of lack of knowledge of the ipod or something from me and i was doing something wrong.

    Thanks.

Once it gets over the initial sync all other syncs, or little backups should be really quick.

You can also disable automatic syncing of music and video in the iPod touch summary page.

Also, I do (although its off-topic) reccomend you jailbreak your device.
