Hi i having problem downgrading my ipod firmware to 1.1.1 as the instruction state that by holding the "shift" key in I-tune they will allow me "check for update" but this don't work for my itune. Could it be that i downloaded the latest version I-tune and it prevents me from using the shortcut? It would be kind enough for someone to guide me on this problem.

    Thanks

man 1.1.2 is out-dated, apple released 2.1 firmware which is far away from 1.1.2

Just use iLiberty+ to jailbreak firmware 1.1.x instead. You only need to restore to firmware 1.1.2 or 1.1.5 (the latter's more stable than 1.1.2) and then use iLiberty to jailbreak.

And you hold down shift and click restore if you're using Windows, or CTRL-Restore if you're on Mac OSX. That'll let you pick the firmware from any location other than the default iTunes one.

why do you want to downgrade to 1.1 or whatever. Why not upgrade to 2.1 which is way better and jailbreak that? Then you get apps from the store and the jailbreak apps. Best of both worlds.

just google for the 2.1 firmware, download it, put ipod into dfu mode (use a programme its easier), update it to 2.1, run quick pwn to jailbreak 2.1

i did it from 1.1.4 and it was pretty easy, had to try a few times tho. google those 3 things and you'll be cool. it is worth doing.
