I recently got a Gen 1 touch that was jailbroken (I do not know with what software) and my son did a complete reset on it. Now I get a pinapple logo only, it will not load the OS. I do see a small circle of lights in the middle of the pinapple logo.

What are my options? Can I go back to 2.2.1 from Apple? Can I re-jailbreak it? If so, where can I get the software and instructions? I am a computer savvy user, and I have hacked my Tivos, Wii and Windows Mobile phone, but I know nothing about jailbreaking the touch.

I am hoping someone can point me the right direction, perhaps to other threads where this has aleady been discussed.

    Thanks

    Device:
    2G iPod touch
Plug it into the computer and put it in DFU mode:
1.) Hold Home and Power for 10 seconds
2.) Release Power and keep holding Home for about 8 more seconds

Now open iTunes and restore it. After that, you can rejailbreak it using a program like QuickPwn.

The restore worked and everything seems to work. Thanks for your quick and accurate reply.
