Hi. I have an iPod touch 2G 8gb. i installed something yesterday (i can't remember what) and now it's like my device is bricked! i don't know how this has happened and whether this is fake or not, but i really need you to listen to me and help.

whenever my device comes on it displays this black screen with a bunch of white text. if i try dfu mode it doesn't work - just displays that screen again. if i try to reset or restart, it'll just come back to that. i tried restoring in itunes but it gave me a failed error almost instantly. i didn't think the ipods could be bricked but maybe someone figured out how. i can't take a screenshot of it since the ipod doesn't work, but i did use my crappy webcam to take a shot. you can't read it in the screenshot but you can see what it basically looks like. here's the pic: http://i26.tinypic.com/fdsegl.png

here's what the text says: (sorry for the caps and punctuation not being correct in some of it - it was a lot to type and took awhile. on the device its perfect grammar/spelling, though)
oh please please PLEASE tell me how to fix it because i can't just send this into apple! i don't want to pay $200 for a new ipod!

Just DFU restore the iPod, they're trying to scare you into not restoring but you can still do it. DFU mode is hardwired into the iPod itself.

But if you did pirate an app, dont.

Haha that's cool. This should be front paged. Could you take a better picture? I know you're webcam sucks apparently but you can do better than that its all blurry.

But anyway, DFU always works. No matter how much they want to, they can't screw up the bootrom.

No matter what, you will always be able to get into DFU. DFU is stored on a separate read-only chip within your device, so nothing can touch it. It may take a few tries, but you'll get it eventually.

in the message its states that "if youre an apple technician, please don't repair this device for free. they obviously have to learn being a freeloader won't help them in the long run."..... obviously it can be fixed. if it says that
