My ipod always plays my tunes through the speaker even when headphones are plugged in. Anyone have any ideas? iPod is jailbroken now but wasn't when this first happens.

OK i got two things for you. First try a full restore - aka go into DFU mode and then shift+restore in itunes to your firmware file (i think option+restore in mac). If that doesn't work then you have a broken headphone jack. Either take it to a apple store or wherever you bought it or manually do it yourself (if u manually do it your warranty will be invalid so dont do that if you have a warranty they can tell if you open it)

Ok if it plays through both then its not a problem with the headphone port. Now its just a software problem. WARNING a full restore will erase all content and settings also just a heads up.

Could be some sort of internal problem.

nope. he said he pluged in the headphones and they work but the speaker is also playing too. so it cant be a internal problem unless something happened to some wires or something (dout that highly) but im sure a full restore will fix everything.

He may have messed up the jack so that the signal is able to go through the headphones but for some reason it isn't tripping whatever sensor/mechanism that turns the speaker on/off.

i kinda dout that but u might be true. Well if the full restore doesn't work then its probably what you said but if it doesn't work after the full restore make sure your device isn't jailbroken and take it to a apple store and don't tell them that you ever jailbroke it either
