    Did you install any Apps?

Try restarting your iPod Touch (Slide to Power off)

my ipod did this once .
the purchased songs wouldnt play at all but if i went to the normal songs the first time i push play it wouldnt work but if i pressed pause then play again it would play .

but it really sucked doing that everytime and i only put up with it for about 5 mins and i restored my ipod .

but it was a while ago and i dont know if anyone has come up with a fix for this ..
but i had to restore to fix mine .

Were you able to listen to music before installing apps?

Also, try fixing permissions on either the Music App, Video App, or your Media Folder.

I'm a bit fuzzy on that part tho.
