    It's a friend's not mine.
    She says:

    "the last thing i did was......ummm i think i was on bebo then i turned it off that's it"

    So yeah.. it's probably a damaged file system anyway. Thanks for the link - Know-how for the future.

    She's just found the Install CD so I'll take her into the recovery console and chkdsk.

    it's "a dell"

    she doesn't know much else.
    I've made her change the boot order coz it wasn't booting from CD and now i'm waiting for her to tell me it's booted to Windows Setup
