    Hi.

I`m totally confused on how to set/use/configure Emerald or Appeareance, because, for example, i select a theme on emerald, nothing happens, then use "emerald --replace", and only the window borders change, but as soon as i close the terminal, they disappear.

Also, I downloaded this, and it comes as a .tar.gz file, so i thought, "perhaps i need to compile it, so i tried "tar xvzf packagename", then cd into the package folder, then "./configure", but it returned an error, so i gave up.

Could you please tell me what am i doing wrong?

    Thanks in advance, me

Emerald can only cahnge the window border as far as i know. To start emerald without terminal; press alt+F2 and then type emerald --replace. You can also put it in the list of programs starting up automaticly with that command.

As for the tar.gz folder. "tar.gz" is an archive-file, like .zip or. rar. You'll need to extarct it before you use it in emerald. left click + extract (here).
