Ok, I'm going to be honest. My screen got scratched. Not to the point where if I took it in, they would be able to tell that was the reason, but to the point where it physically pains me to see my brand new baby iPod all scratched up. And I don't need commentary about how "i should have been more careful", my friend took it without permission and dropped it by accident.

Now, I know it will shake some of you at the core to help me mess up my iPod rather than fix it, but I need a reason for them to replace it. I have it jailbroken, but is there any way to can get it to stop syncing with iTunes or make it buggy? I could install it and then delete installer and all other apps, making it appear not-jailbroken while it in fact is.

Please, help me get a brand new, shiny iPod touch that will let me forget all my hate for my friend and my regret at getting it messed up when I myself was so careful.

Why don't you just restore so it's not jailbroken anymore. Then just drop it a few more times.

Because they won't replace for something that's obviously my fault. I need it to be faulty which is why I suggested inability to sync with itunes or play videos or something.

Zink, good idea. However, these Apple Store employees are pretty knowledgeable about jailbreaks and such and I'm worried they might recognize that as a sign of an unfinished jailbreak. If they can prove I tried to jailbreak, they won't help me. Is there a file I can delete that will mess up iTunes syncing (and hopefully mess up the ability to restore so they don't suggest that)?

Why not restore, then "accidently" have the ipod docking cable break off or dislodge the connector to the port on the bottom? That would certainly cause it to not synch.

I was thinking there might be a way to damage it with water without setting off the water sensor. From what I have read the sensor is in the headphone jack? So maybe if it was positioned on it's left side then water was put in through the usb connector thingy it could ruin something. I don't really know much about what I am talking about, maybe somebody smarter than me could expand on this idea. But if you can ruin something, let it dry, and not trip the sensor I think that's what you need. I thought of water because it can do damage but then it will disappear, the invisible killer

Don't go squirting water into your ipod until someone has a good way to do it. And don't blame me if it doesn't work.

maybe, uninstall all apps...hide installer from customize...like, hide all 3rd party apps, and change ur "carrier name" to original (ipod)
then, SSH into it, delete files like, the whole root of something, then delete some more, then more, simply restart, then you'll have the spinning wheel of death..with the apple logo, then just tell them it wont restore...
