I just put my iPod Touch 2G into dfu mode after bricking because of the retarted app lOgOmE and I want to restore it in iTunes I click restore and it says "Software for this iPod is not currently available. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes and try again.) I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!! If my mom finds out I will be in the most trouble I have ever been in my entire life...PLEASE HELP! I know that you can hold the option key while clicking restore to browse for a ipsw but I can't find one for 2.2.1 (P.S. my iPod was running on 2.2.1) If someone ca help me I will never forget you!!

Mate why don't you just download QuickFreedom and create the custom ipsw?

It will also point you to download the 2.2.1 firmware prior to creating the custom firmware.

Simple enough, if I understand your problem.

    Good luck

That's a good idea...But I think I just found the solution...I was trying to download an ipsw in Safari and the file didn't come out right....So I tried firefox and it came out well not weird! I just haven't tried using it to restore my iPod (Which I am going to do in a minute...)

Download a firmware off the internet, search Ipod touch 2g 2.2.1 firmware on google and then Shift+click restore to it, thats how i did it.

yeah in safari you have to change the extension because it is a .zip and all you have to do is change it to .ipsw. I wonder why in safari it does this and not firefox?

Please note that if you use Safari you must disable the auto unzip feature. It may be easier to just use Firefox!

actually, Internet Explorer saves all IPSWs as zips, and even if its renamed to .ipsw, it still saves it as a zip. i dont understand how it does that with your safari, cuz i downloaded a ton of things with Safari and they never turn up in zips.
