well, first of all, IEM hurts my ear. i get the buzz, the jaw lock (its weird, but i get the jaw lock after several weeks of using IEM. it stopped when i ditch the IEM). i dont like headphones either...
i listen to electronic and pop music, like crystal castle, franz ferdinand, lady gaga, M.I.A etc. so u know i love the bass and the warm sounds. my budget is.... 40 dollars top.

    thanks everyone

bose on-ears, u can find them used for 120$, over your budget but for people who love bass its a must have, i have them and if turned up over 3/4, the bass starts to vibrate the earphones. trust me the bass is AMAZING.

Man you really like your Bose on-ears...

Anyways I believe the request was for earbuds, not headphones. It's hard to find good earbuds because people who really want quality switch to IEMs or headphones...I really like Audio-Technica, and I've heard a lot of good things about their headphones, so here is a pair by them: ATH-C602W. I'm certain you can find them for under $40 somewhere.
I'm also a fan of Sennheiser, and these are around $40 on the dot, commented on for strong bass: MX760

Most of the earphones are going to break after a while ... it's the way you keep it in your pocket and how you wrap the cable acctualy ...

Very true. I've never broken earphones or had them die on me. I'm careful with em though.
