I just had my old 20GIG Ipod Photo stolen.. so I'm in the market for a new ipod.

I was thinking about the 16GIG Gen 2 Touch for $299... but then I saw the 16GIG Refurb Gen 1 touch for $219

Seeing how apple guarantees the refurbs for 1 year... is it really worth it to get the Gen 2 for what amounts to $80 more?

From what I've read the only real difference is the design, speaker and Nike+.. whatever that is.

    Basically you got it right..
but it's a lot faster than the 1g when you download stuff and do some other things..
there's more than just the physical stuff that you should notice..
apple also says that the battery life is a lot longer.. maybe that's something to consider..

I have both, there are six things I really like with the 2G:

    1. Speaker - this is big for me, I can play games without my earbud and it sounded okay
    2. Volume control - I don't have to double click on the home button to access the control
    3. Battery life - is decent
    4. Countour shape - feels better on hand
    5. Sound - quality is somewhat better
    6. Faster - internet

yeah i had the 1g too, and it was great due to all the jailbreaking and stuff like that... but here's the bad part. it over heated like crazy, and it was very slow.

honestly, i would get the 2g, because heck the best from that device is yet to come. the new jailbreak is on its way, and its just cool... and NOT TO MENTION... SPEAKERS!!! yeah the speakers r that great. they can get pretty loud, but they really only meant for casual listening, like if ur in ur room or something. you really shouldn't use it in a loud place, cause it'd be useless.... but its still a beast.

The internal speaker on the 2G has already warranted my purchase price. I've used my touch as an alarm clock, played games on it without having to plug in headphones, etc.

Well worth the difference in price.
