I have never had an ipod. I am not worried about the 8gb size, as I would carry vid's and movies on my PSP. This ipod would be used mostly for just music, and for in my car. all of the apps look to be only like 7meg to 100meg, so thats not bad.

The price drop is nice for me, and I was wondering if I would be wasting my money getting a 8gb 2g for 200 (CDN) or should I get the 32gb 3g for about 130 dollars more... which would be the better purcahse for me? please help..

(also.. is the 2gen 8gb and the 3gen 8gb the same?)

depends on how many gigs of music you have now, the rate at which your music/video library grows.

but with the price drop, i'd definitely recommend the 32gb, not only for the space, but because of the faster processor and better graphics.

yes, the 2nd gen and 3rd gen 8gb are the same. its probably best to not even consider the 8gb 3rd generation.

space is not a huge issue. as Im used to rotating stuff on and off of devices, and my library is small. The 130$ is worth the faster processer and the gfx?

I would go with the 8GB model to serve your needs

The 8GB has no hardware updates.

If you plan to play 3d games on it, yes.

If you think 8gb is enough space, and will be enough space for at least a year, for all your media and apps, then get the 8gb.

but i say if you have the money for the 32gb, get that.

If you are going to go ahead and play games (not just music) go for the 32GB. If just music, I'd actually say the Zune HD would be (much) more suiting...

Well first let me say that the 8GB version of the iPod Touch has not been updated so that means it's still a 2G. Only the 32GB & the new 64GB versions have been updated. Also the only differences between them are that the 3G has voice control (with no built in mic, but the 32GB & 64GB versions come with a mic) and the 2G doesn't. But the 3G was said to perform much faster than the 2G. So it's up to you. But I do recommend the 32GB version.

You could just get a refurbished 16 GB for 200 bucks instead.
