    I tried this redsn0w crap.....

I was at the 2.1.1 part, iRecovery, watever..... I'm stuck and I don't know what to do.

I decided to just wait until the real jailbreak comes out.....

My iPod is in DFU mode and I can't restore it in iTunes. It says something about "software for this iPod is not currently available." How do I restore it? It's probably really easy and obvious... but I don't know how to do it.

Put your iPod into DFU mode. (search for it)

and THEN shift restore.... or just hit restore and try.

hold home and power button for like 15 secs and if that doesnt work then hold it until something happens, if that doesnt work then continue with the tutorial. your on the right track.

My iPod is in DFU mode (which is where it shows up on iTunes as not available and is unresponive, right?) and I try to hit restore on iTunes and it says the software is not up to date.

So your iPot is in DFU.
Download the iPod touch firmware from here.
    http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/
Make sure the firmware is in a place that you could remember such as your desktop.
Open up iTunes, and plug in your iPod.
iTunes should say something along the lines of "Recongnized a device in DFU mode. Click to restore"
Hold down the SHIFT key on your keyboard, and then click restore. Then choose wherever you put your firmware.

    Viola, a virgin iPod.
