    my ipod touch was on 2.1 jailbroken and i wanted to put custom apps on it. so i used ssh to change the mobile installation file but when i restarted the ipod it froze on the apple bootload screen. i plugged it into itunes, and it would only let my restore to normal 2.1 firmware. i then used pwnage tool to remake the jailbreak ipsw and put my ipod into DFU mode and tryed to restore it with the jailbreak but it says "the ipod "ipod" could not be restored, an unknown error occured"

    the most probable solution is that u must start over, pwning the firmware again then restoring to the pwned firmware

    You need to create custom firmware if using PwnageTool. Then do the Ctrl-Restore in DFU mode. As for your initial issue, read the 'stance on cracked apps' post at the top of the forum.

    @Jarlath
    He said custom apps, not cracked apps. Meaning he might have made his own, and doesn't want to pay money to put it on the app store. Don't assume things.

    Yeah, that's real likely... a developer who made his own apps but can't figure out how to jailbreak

    Why are you using Pwnage? QuickPwn is so much easier.
