Can you play any songs on the iPod? Have you tried restoring your custom .ipsw?

iTunes does not have the capacity to make things move. You need to physically pick up your iPod to pick it up, as you obviously want to.

Put your iPod in recovery mode. You do this by turning your iPod off and then holding the Home button until the iTunes logo comes on with the arrow pointing to it. Then plug it into your USB port and then iTunes should see it again. Worked for me!!

There is no need to restore. Restart your computer.

If that doesnt work then go get a dif. ipod cable and put it in a different usb slot

Hit Ctrl-alt-del, go to processes, and see if the iTunesHelper.exe and iPodService.exe processes are running. If they aren't, go to File> Run then type them in. Those processes control the interaction between the iPod and iTunes, and if they're not running there is no interaction between the two.
