I have a problem where when I plug my touch into my computer, iTunes freezes. Nothing else on the computer freezes, just iTunes. I am running all the latest firmware on my touch and iTunes. It's really frustrating because I can't put any new music on it! Please help!!! I have tried restarting my touch, reinstalling itunes and testing the connectivity and all seems ok. I have also tried it on three different computers

put ipod in DFU and then plug it in, see if it freezes. If it doesn't, do a hard reboot back to normal mode and you should be fine.

DFU? Pardon my ignorance but what is that? A 'hard' reboot... Is that basically restoring it? Will I lose my music etc?

okay DFU mode is a mode for restoring and forcing itunes to recognizze your ipod.
    Plug in your ipod.
    1. Hold power and home buttons for ten seconds
    2. Release power button and continue holding home for 7- 12 seconds
iTunes should pop up with "ipod detected in recovery mode."
A hard reset i meant,im sorry. If itunes dont freeze, hold down power and home buttons for 20 seconds to boot up your ipod again.
then check if you have the problem.
    hope this helps

dont worry that happens to my computer
    plug in your ipod
    open itunes
    give it like 2-5mins
then it'll somewhat unfreeze and you can sync your ipod

if I run this DFU mode, will all my music, photos etc be erased? I really want to try and avoid that if I can.

Also, will I be able to redownload any songs, apps etc that I have bought from iTunes on my iPod but have not synced to iTunes for free?

Try to install iTunes on other hard drive, it sometimes a problem with the hard drive (e.g: I can't run properly Guitar Hero 3 on hard drive C:\ but I can run it on properly on D:\ ).

I mean on the other hard drive you have for example: I have C:\ and D:\.
If you have them both and you installed iTunes on C:\, try to install it on D:\.

    this one works:
don't plug your ipod in the computer. open itunes. play a music file in your library. plug your ipod. wait. it will say "verifying iPod". wait. then try if it will not freeze. i hope this works. Because it worked with my xp.
