help, ipod displays connecter with itunes logo

    i just got my ipod touch and when i turned it on it shows the connector and apple logo icon weahter its plugged into my computer or not... i cant get to the home interface of the ipod touch...is this normal?

    Itunes says the software is not installed for the ipod or something along those lines...im trying to re-install to see if it fixes it...any ideas?

    im also on vista 32 bit as well

    Search before posting, but still I'll help.

    If it's what I think it is, you'll want to restart your computer, disconnect your ipod and usb cable when its off, reboot your computer, launch itunes, connect your usb cable, connect the ipod, then update or restore (your choice).

    That solved my issue, just be warned the restore will wipe your music and everything else.

    that happened the first time I plugged in my touch and my problem was fixed by updating iTunes maybe try that if you have an old version?

    had to reinstall intunes even tho it was a fresh install...thanks!

    I'm pretty sure iTunes requires a restart before you can use it. Try restarting and then respond.
