Everything works great... apache serving up my iphone site at http://192.168.1.108

HOWEVER... I would like to go to http://giphone or something like to see that site... how can I get my iphone to register it's hostname when I jump on the wireless. My Router DHCP lease table shows the IP... but no registered name like my mac or Vista systems do.

And please don't tell me to mod my hosts file, or create static records on my WINS server or DNS. I want this to work on every DHCP wifi I jump on, friends, family... etc.

    Any ideas?

    thanks

Same dilemma has crossed my mind too...

Did a host file mod so I could do it from my PC, but think to do it from 'anywhere' you'd need to have a DHCP server running on your iPod touch, and for that server to be registered in a DNS somewhere...

The alternative is to register an address with dyndns.dk, and whenever you get a new IP address on your Touch, go to dyndns to let it acquire your new IP, but then I suppose you'd need port-forwarding on the current router....

Tricky one to say the least!!
