Basically i biught an second hand iphone a couple of months ago and it worked fine but the otherday it diconnected from my wifi router and every time i search for a wifi network it shows full signal bars for my router, but i cant connect to it, i can only connect to it if im right next to it and after i connect the signal bar drops to one bar even when im right next to the router...and as i soon as i move about 5 steps from the router it loses signal. all my other electronics work fine including my ipod touch, laptop, pc and ps3.

Sounds like the WiFi antenna may be broken or disconnected.

Any idea if someone replaced the screen on it or had it open for anything?

No the phone has never been opened, but if the antenna was broken i dont think it would find any wifi networks at all..

I had a 2G with a broken WiFi wire and it would do just like you are describing.

Is the iPhone still under warranty?
