Green boot screen? Wow. I think you're going to have to restore. I hear lots of people have issues when updating their 3G iPhones to 4.0.

I have this problem too, but only when I run out of battery and turn it back on.

Firstly a green screen appears then comes the normal boot logo. (could be beccuase I use a custom boot screen)

I had that EXACT same problem !!!! I held the power and home button together for about 5 seconds and it fixed it though, I was out drinking the night before so I thought I got some liquid or something in it.

I got this one too - for me it was simple:
    CHARGE your iPhone

the low battery indicator is this green/yellow (in my case) screen of death. your phone ran out of battery. let it charge for approx. 15minutes and "home+power" hold 10 seconds to turn off and then boot using powerbutton. if it goes into green screen again to this again, turn off and turn on. for me it worked at the second time

it is a strange problem but nothing serious
