i was going to download the 3.0 firmware for my ipod touch 2g, but forgot to put it in DFU mode before i "restored" the firmware.... so now my ipod screen shows an iTunes icon and a USB cable. I can turn it of and back on, and it still shows the same picture, even if it is connected to the computer or not.

It also says "The iPod software update server could not be contacted. The server does not support this version of iTunes" when I connect my iPod to itunes (i tried 8.2 beta and 8.2)

    HELP ME!?!?!

Well, this means it's in restore mode. Therefore, you can still restore your firmware in it.

Welcome to the forums, but this should be asked in the firmware 3.0 section.

Have you tried putting it in DFU or recovery mode again?

To the OP: This problem is very fixable. It happened to a friend of mine yesterday and I helped him with it. Downgrade iTunes, Then put your iPod into DFU mode. After that, Plug your iPod in and downgrade the firmware to 2.2.1.

Many people are having the same problem's as you, It took me a while to figure it out but I finally did it. This should help you. I understand that it doesn't pop up in iTunes also, But if you downgrade your iTunes and put it into DFU mode it will.

    To Littleh:
I'm not sure how I can help you, If you can find a way to enter DFU mode that would be great. The only thing I can see is taking your iPod to an Apple store if your still under warranty.

I had this problem, just press hold and home with that connect to iTunes screen on at the same time until it powers off and release the hold key 3 seconds after, it should work.
