There is no reason it wouldn't take you to the 'connect to iTunes' screen.

Try turning off (top button, red slider) your iPod. Turning it off, and trying again following the following steps:

*Must have iPod plugged into computer while doing this*

    1. Press and hold the home button and the sleep/wake button. (the power off option will appear, ignore it)
    2. When the apple logo appears let go of the sleep/wake button (keep holding the home button.)
    3. After a few seconds you should see the connect to iTunes image (you can now let go of the home button.)
    4. Open iTunes .
    5. iTunes should automatically recognize your iPod once the image comes up, if not unplug your iPod and plug it back in.
    6. Restore your iPod by clicking the "Restore" button.

When it gets to that screen your iTunes should start downloading the firmware and then restore it.

EDIT: As long as it's plugged into your computer

I am still confused. I think you are talking about the autolock feature. To fix this go to settings>general>autolock>set to NEVER.

This thread is confusing the **** out of me. Sorry, I just really do not get what you are saying. When you turn your iPod touch on you get someone that says "slide to unlock" if that is correct that is supposed to happen.
