on my ipod, the home button is completely jammed, all i can do is touch it, i cant hear a click or anything, its just stuck, and also my screen is white and its stuck like that, i cant do a hard reset because the home button wont work, i bought this like 2 years ago, on OCT.2007, so my warranty is definitely over, i got it at target, but yea, is there ANYTHING i can do to fix this ?????? , ive had it for 2 years, my friend borrowed it for a f***ing day and broke it..
there's a fix.. take the flat end of a pen (not the end u write with) and press the home button as hard as you can.. hold it down and press the sleep button to do a hard reset. if that works, use ur home button by pressing down really really hard then releasing, it should register a second after u release
probably don't push as hard as you can. I would say restore to get rid of the white screen, then either take it apart and fix it yourself or find someone to fix it for you. Or sell it on ebay as is and buy a new device.
Directions to get it open on 1g ipod touch Same thing happened to my bros, i opened it up and replaced the spring and the button. You can run your fingernail where the silver and the black meet if your using a 1g. Then use a screwdriver, and put it in the middle of where the silver and black meet on the bottem, where the plug is, and pry it open.
