    I really need help guys.
    I've searched and searched.
    Here and Google.
    For the past 18 hours.

I was listening to my iPod today and it just died.
    Completely unresponsive,
Until I connected to my computer.
It began an endless cycle of restore mode.
I got it in DFU mode and it stopped restarting...
If i take it out of DFU it continues the endless cycle.
Also, if I disconnect it from the computer,
It becomes once again, COMPLETELY NON-RESPONSIVE.

My iPod just wont restore in iTunes.
It gets to "Prepareing iPod for restore"
and the instant after it shows the spinning wheel on the boot screen,
    it restarts in recovery mode.
Then I get the "1611" Error.
I've tried 35 times from DFU mode.
And 20 times from restore mode.
    I've tried restarting the computer,
changing the USB port (to every other USB port on my computer)
uninstalling and re-installing iTunes twice COMPLETELY (and restarting the computer in between each)
    and uninstalling and re-installing Quicktime.
I've deleted the firmware that was in my "Apple Computer" folder,
and I downloaded through iTunes again.

I just cant get it to restore.

Can anyone please help me with a solution?
I can't get a new iPod right now.

Get another copy of the firmware or make sure the one it is using to restore isn't corrupt.

I forgot to mention that I've done that already.
I've deleted the firmware that was in my "Apple Computer" folder,
and I downloaded through iTunes again.

There was a guy on here awhile back who had that issue and there was a strange copy in documents or somewhere causing issues. Let me check it out.

Have you tried to put the firmware on your desktop and do a shift + restore and then select that firmware?

if you can, download the firmware 2.1 (not from itunes) and try that.
also try restoring on a different computer.

    I have tried shift+click restoring,
    but not from my desktop.

I beleive that i got a different error like "9" or something.
But, my iPod responded the same it always does,
    restarting in recover immediatly.

I also forgot to say that when i unplug it from my computer it becomes completely non-responsive again.

im begining to think this might be a battery problem.

    Alright,
    I solved the problem.

I broke down and called apple...

and the only solution was to have them repair it.
they said that if you have the same error on both a PC and a Mac,
it's normally somthing wrong with the iPod.

The guy I talked to on the phone said it sounds like some kind of battery problem.

So i'm sending them my iPod tomorrow.
