    Code:
    $ mkdir /tmp/images
    $ cd /tmp/images
    $ /Applications/WinterBoard.app/UIImages
    $ ls UISearchFieldIcon.png -la
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 468 Aug  4 03:13 UISearchFieldIcon.png

    this is from http://www.saurik.com/id/9 about halfway down, if u havent read it already just skip down to the part i posted above, its wrapped in a code, read the paragraph above it. What does all that bejambled mess mean?

    The stuff in code extracts the png's in the other.artwork to /private/var/stash/Themes.xxxxx/UIImages

    Not really, no.

    All it does it make a temporary directory for the images to go to, and then reverts them back to viewable png's and moves them to /private/var/stash/Themes.xxxxx/UIImages. Then it changes permissions to 644 and finishes executing the commands.

    They are extracted from the other.artwork file and put in /private/var/stash/Themes.xxxxxx/UIImages for you to view and edit.
