Saying it's not recognized means you're not in DFU. Use a DFU counter, and then boot it.

it's not bricked. first reset the connection by holding power+home for 10 seconds. you'll get a popup telling you it's unrecognized, then try to put it in DFU mode (power+home 10 seconds, only home till it recognizes device in recovery mode)

try another computer if you can. otherwise it's just you thats messing up. If the computer says it is not recognized then it is not bricked. just keep trying.

Its not supposed to be recognized by the computer so quite repeating that, if it says "USB Device not recognized" that is a good thing, it isnt bricked. Hold home + power for 10/15 seconds and then let go of power and continue to hold home until you hear the reconnecting noise on your computer, it could take from 5 seconds to 20. Once you hear that noise let go and your in DFU mode.

Try a DFU counter (such as the one in redTool)

Its a user error there is nothing wrong with your iPod. All you do is hold home + power for 15 seconds and then let go and only hold home until you hear the reconnecting noise from your computer (make sure your volume is up on your computer). If this doesn't work then your doing something wrong.
