So all of a sudden, for no reason, the 'slide to power off' screen decides to appear without me even touching the sleep button. So I thought, hmm, that was weird, and just got on with it. Now, it keeps on doing it! I have reset it etc but still no change. A minute ago, the sleep button wouldn't even work until I connected it to itunes?! Has anyone ever experienced this before? I've only had my touch two weeks and and going crazy over the fact that something is going wrong with it all ready! It seems to have been ok for the past ten minutes since disconnecting it from the computer, but I don't want it to happen again!

    HELP!

Try restoring it. It if keeps happening bring it back from where you got it from, or apple store. They will most likely replace it for a new one.

I was going to restore it, backed it up, then decided not to. Since then it's been fine. When I plugged it into my computer, the computer installed it again, even though it was already installed?!

well if continues to happen, just back it up and restore it, and like i said if its still messed up then return it for a new one.

I think I will do. The thing is, can I re-download all the apps and music I have bought off the App store on the iPod for free?

Yes, because they are linked to yyour account, not to your ipod.

Just take it to the Apple store and they will most likely replace it for a new one.
You will not lose any data.

My 'local' apple store is about 45 miles away in West London.

    Okay, so what?
I can assure you, the Apple store won't make a house call. If you want to get it replaced, you're going to have to actually go to the store.
