yeah no jailbreak, but have you really messed with the app store yet, jailbreaking ipods and iphones doesnt even gain you that much anymore, most developers make things for the app store now, i had a jailbroken ipod 1st gen, i restored it gave it to my mom and got a 2nd gen, its really good not jailbroken but if you really want it then you'll have to wait, the iphone dev team is working on it, but from what i can tell its gonna be a while, so i wouldnt hold your breath

like restore useing itunes 7.7 then shift click restore and find 1.1.4?

There IS no firmware for the 2G Touch except 2.1.1, so you can't downgrade it. It's like asking if you can run OS 6 on your new MacBook Pro; no drivers, no software, and it won't recognize that other firmware as being valid for the Touch 2G which has a speaker and volume control buttons built-in.

Wait for a jailbreak for the 2G. You have no other options for jailbreaking. Or you could, y'know, use the App Store...

Hopefully soon but not yet. But lots of dev teams are working on it.
