Noob here. I just received my 8GB touch last week, v2.2. I had heard about jailbreaking. Google is my friend. I wound up here. I've learned oodles and boodles in the last hour or so. I have seen how to jailbreak, but I was wondering why one would want to? Are there that many cool and neat applications out there to make it worthwhile? So far, I haven't seen a spot in the forums with a list and description of available applications. Is there one that allows video streaming of Adobe files? That's the only disappointing thing that I've found about my Touch - I'd like to look up things and view them just as I do on my PC.

Good site, by the way. Lots and lots questions have already been answered. Much more to learn.

I'd like to view vids from various sites - my local news channel site, cnn, nfl, etc.

Theres a safari plugin called "iMobileCinema" that plays flash videos from some sites.

    And welcome!

Am I correct in assuming that I'd have to jailbreak to d/l the app?
