The permissions on Installer may not be correct, so try this command

    chmod 4755 /Applications/Installer.app/Installer

If that doesn't work then you may have reached your application space limit, so you need to relocate the apps and create a symlink. This can be done by running the commands here

More info on commands can be found in this guide

this is exactly the same problem i have, i can't relocate apps as i've already done that and it won't let me do it again
my installer was working fine before, and i renamed remotepackages.plist to remotepackages.plist.old and it still doesn't work.

Have you tried the command above in order to change permissions?

Well, try the commands to relocate apps once more, no harm in trying.

If that doesn't work and no one else has any other ideas, the only thing I can think of short of a restore is to SSH and replace Installer.app

    Ziphone

    1) SSH into the Touch and delete Installer.app
    2) Download Ziphone
    3) Select Jailbreak
    *Replaces Installer.app
    Manual Replace
    1) Download Installer from here
    2) SSH and delete Installer.app
    3) Drag and Drop the newly downlod Installer.app
    4) Run these two commands

    • chmod 4755 /Applications/Installer.app/Installer
    • chown -R root:wheel /Applications/Installer.app
    5) Installer should now work, if you had backed up your sources from var/mobile/Library/Installer or var/root/Library/Installer then replace them and change permissions.

    Good Luck.
