There is absolutely nothing wrong with them if you honestly don't care, they break and sound like crap to most others though, they are not even close to being worth their retail price. I'd easily spend $100 on headphones. Yes, if I had the money I would have JH Audio JH16s ($1149) or Sennheiser HD800s($1499.95) $100 is chump change for good audio equipment.

For the OP, I have heard good things about the Turbine line, much better than the crappy Beats, you're one of the few with enough sense to know they suck even before you have listened to the cheaper and better options. Some good reviews here:

Or you could spring for the Head-Direct RE0s but if you want more bass get the Turbines as some people find the bass in the RE0s lacking:

Many people really do love the RE0s for the value they possess, cheaper but with amazing sound.

Or the Westone UM1: These might be your best bet though, very highly regarded:

I've kind of made up my mind about getting the Turbines. I found a very good deal for them and all of the reviews I've seen for them are all very good. And about the Beats, I'm not one of those people who just buy something because it looks cool, and expect it to be just as good as it look, i like to do my research and get something that's worth the money i spend on it. I couldn't give two sh*ts about looking "fly".

RE0 = Amazing value for the price + amazing sound quality. Still would be lacking for the OP though, they have slightly more bass than the HF3. They are perfectly neutral though :) The only downside is that mine died in 4 months of light use :( On the bright side, HiFiMan has amazing customer service as well :) I wouldn't recommend the RE0 for the OP though. Those who want to know more look at the iFans review of the RE0: http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=344452

@recommendations for the default Apples: they are decent, but definitely not worth the 30 dollars. For 10 bucks more you can get the DUNU Tridents. They are milleniums ahead of the Apples. The newer Apple buds are actually decent though, they do lack in the sub/deep bass department though (and bass in general).

Your post about hailing Hayley definitely going first.

EDIT: That's better. Aiwa's is really cool, but Hayley comes first:p

I wouldn't even call them decent. They're not the worst I've ever used but they're pretty bad. But that's just my opinion.
