My iPod Touch 1st gen which is over two years old has recently occured a problem with the headphone jack, the headphones are sometimes recognised and sometimes not at all.

If I just plug them in then music plays very quietly but the volume cannot be adjusted..

Is there a way of fixing this? I have tried a number of different headphones but all have the same issue. And the device is not under any sort of warranty

    Thanks

It's probably just old and needs to be replaced.

The iPod. But you could try different headphones first.

    You could try a restore.

It seems to be working fine now, as I was abroad I think it may have been a heat related issue as when I was in New York it would give me the "No Wifi" problem, back home though it has always worked a charm..

    Cheers
