    iPhone 3GS (Black)
    When I tell it to restore the 1.1.1 file, it gives me the message "The IPod 'IPod' could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1)."

    Easy Solution

    I was in the same situation and found a simple solution;

    1) Connect your ipod touch to your pc
    2) hold the power and home button down till the screen goes black (around 5 to 20 seconds after the slider to power off stuff)
    3) When the screen turns black let go off the power button
    4) kept hold of the home button till the pc recognizes it in recovery mode
    5) restore to any firmware u want to

    They should sticky that link cause that will solve every2 problems on downgrading from 1.1.3 to 1.1.1

    ps i thought that recovery mode was the same as DFU mode
