My brother and I have been trying to fix up a 10 year old computer with only 128mb RAM. So we've been installing random linux distros on it and none of them seem to run. At all. First was Ubuntu. The LiveCD wouldn't even run so we tried the alternative CD. It installed perfectly, but booted to a black screen. So next one, Xubuntu. Same exact route, same exact result.

Next we tried some less conventional ones. gOS didn't even load an install screen. Finally, we installed Vector Linux Light 6. It installed perfectly, but it won't boot a GUI. It gives you 3 options at boot: "Linux", text, and GUI. The only one that works is text. The other ones boot but then go to a purely black screen...

Any idea what is happening? Any help at all is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If puppy linux doesn't work, try like a REALLY OLD windows. And if that doesnt work, sell the computer as an antique on e-bay.
